The mother tongue can be connected to a lot of trauma; if you find that reflecting on your childhood language is too overwhelming, think about your relationship to communicating in different environments and how language may impact your mood. Also, consider how forms of speech can stimulate a specific personality in you.

Describe the feelings most associated with the language spoken in your childhood home. What do you notice happens to your body when you think about your mother tongue? What style or tone of speech opens you up? What style or tone of speech shuts you down?
